Back in Action

It has been ages since I posted, but after being too busy with work and playing other games. I have finally gotten back to working on Spaceboxer, and I started by fully redesigning the spaceship renderer.

What was taking around 2000 draw calls to the video card every frame I have cut down to around 20 to render the same ship. 100 fold improvement! This should make everything scale much better than before. Although, I still have some performance improvement work to do with the graphics. The new system takes a bit more memory and is about 10 times as complicated but should give us a boost when it come time render super complicated ships.

Eddie has been working on a realistic star field texture, based on actual star positions. It looks kick-ass and the game is starting to actually look like a game.
